On September 18, 2025, a delegation of R&D and technology experts from Volvo Car Group Headquarters, accompanied by the President of Volvo China, visited the Baorixile Open-Pit Coal Mine to observe and learn about its autonomous mining system. As the exclusive autonomous driving technology supplier for Baorixile Mine, Robonets demonstrated the full autonomous mining workflow to the Volvo delegation in a real-world setting—from loading and hauling to dumping. Haul trucks powered by Robonets have achieved 100% autonomous operation at 98% of the productivity of human-driven equivalents, equipping mine haulage with the wings of artificial intelligence and earning high praise from international visitors for cutting-edge Chinese technology.

Robonets' CTO Wang Daiyin Explains the Autonomous Mining System to Volvo Headquarters' Technical Experts.

Located in the northern part of Hailar District, Hulunbuir City, the Baorixile Open-Pit Coal Mine is owned by China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy) and is one of the largest open-pit coal mines in China. With an annual production capacity of over 35 million tons, it plays a crucial role in coal supply for eastern Inner Mongolia and the three northeastern provinces. Developed since 1980, Baorixile Mine has abundant resources and rich mining experience. In recent years, in response to national priorities and to embrace new-quality productive forces, the mine has actively explored the integration of innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence with traditional mining—and Robonets has seized this opportunity to deliver a strong performance at Baorixile.

Industry-Leading Robust Onboard Intelligence with Lightweight Cloud Orchestration Enables Rapid Deployment

Given the long construction cycle of mining infrastructure and the immature state of network conditions, Robonets rapidly deployed the autonomous driving system at Baorixile by leveraging its industry-leading ""robust onboard intelligence with lightweight cloud orchestration"" architecture. Through a deep-learning-based end-to-end large model, Robonets infuses the experience of veteran drivers into the haul trucks, enhancing both single-truck autonomy and offline fleet collaboration. The system requires only 4G networks to support multi-fleet, end-to-end operations, with no operational interruptions during occasional network failures. It has achieved overall productivity of 98% of human-driven operations.

First Supplier to Achieve ""24/7 Continuous Operations"" Validation in a Real-World Setting

Robonets is the first autonomous driving technology supplier to validate ""24/7 continuous operations"" in real-world conditions at Baorixile Mine. Its autonomous mining capabilities have been unanimously recognized by the mine and haulage service providers. A 100-truck-scale autonomous retrofit project has been launched, and all vehicles are expected to achieve continuous autonomous operations by the end of 2025.

Powering the Transformation and Upgrade of the Mining Industry

Now that October has arrived, the first snow has fallen on the Hailar steppe in northern China, and the cold deepens—but every Robonets team member is filled with passion. With our wisdom and effort, we have given sight and life to the steel giants galloping across the mines, allowing technological power to reach the harshest environments and truly liberating productivity through artificial intelligence. We believe these innovative platforms will become a powerful force driving the mining industry's transformation toward modernization, intelligence, and safety, injecting strong momentum into the industry's future.
